Our Brief Talk today is with model and musician Ant Barnes. It was a few months ago when we saw Ant for the first time in one of his works with photographer Calvin Brockington and we were absolutely amazed. Apart from being incredibly sexy, Ant is intelligent and has a great sense of humour. Enjoy the brief interview below and find out more about him, his work and, of course, what his his favourite underwear! Tell us a little about yourself?

Well, where to start? I am alumni of Texas State University where I graduated in Integrated Studies. Integrated Studies is a synthesis of three minors and my minors were: Sociology of Popular Culture, Human Communication Studies, and Musician Studies. Many people do not expect me to be the music geek that I am. What surprises people is that I can play Jazz Piano and Marimba/Vibraphone and I have actually acquired a music scholarship for jazz composition and musicianship. I am a fitness junkie also, as you can see, and I have always been proud of the progress of myself and others. Fashion also seems to influence me also. I know you all cannot tell from the post but I do own nice clothes and when I leave the house I never like to look a mess. As for the future, I do hope to produce a number one hit on billboards, become a big name underwear model, and also own my own clothing line... I know I have big goals >.< But I will never accomplish them if I don't at least go for them 100%.

How did you get into modelling?

I started when I was in college and frankly I needed extra money. But subconsciously I've always wanted to be an underwear model but when I started I was 135 lbs. So my first gig was actually a mixture of shoots and one was full frontal nude and underwear. I didn't mind being nude but I felt more comfortable with underwear because I felt people were solely staring at my penis lol. But ever since I saw those pictures of myself I started hitting the gym hard. As my body progressed so did my modelling. I'm far from where I want to be but at least I'm not where I used to.

What's the best moment in your modelling career so far?

Recently I had the honor to be DNA:Hunk of The Day (you can see the feature here) because frankly it is hard for models of colour. But honestly the best moment is actually meeting the nationally known photographer Calvin Brockington! Ever since I've shot with him, he helped me progress as a model and as a friend! If he didn't enter my life I probably would've been taking more selfies! LOL But big shoutout to him! Also I do hope to land the cover for a magazine that I recently shot for called Solstice Australia! Fingers Crossed! But I have more big gigs planned for the upcoming year!

What is your dream job as a model?

Frankly I want to be that token black model that everyone goes to if they want to shoot underwear/swimwear or to model in general! LOL I know it sounds funny, or some may say racist, but hey I have to market myself somehow! But I want to be on a big campaign ad somewhere!

Time for us to discuss underwear!

Where to start! I LOVE UNDIES! It's so crazy how much men's underwear has progressed throughout time bc underwear back in the day used to be sooooooo uncomfortable. Either it was too baggy or too tight in certain areas! I feel so comfortable in men's underwear nowadays because they finally have a big enough pouch for my love area! 

How often do you buy underwear or lounge wear pieces?

Ever since my drawer gotten full probably once a month but it used to be every week I would come home with a couple new pairs!

When you shop for underwear what do you look for?

A big enough pouch for the banana and strawberries is the first thing I look for. If the pouch isn't big enough then I don't care how good it looks, I won't get it. Next thing is fabric. Modal, spandex, cotton and elastane are the fabrics I do look for because they will stretch and last. I tend to stay away from poly.

What's your favorite underwear style and why?

It is hard because I love brief and boxer-briefs/trunks. It's too hard to decide because I have about the same amount of both!

What is your favourite underwear brand and why?

There is waaaaay too many to choose. I do like the commercial lines like Calvins, N2N, Andrew Christian, Cellblock13, etc because they are safe and you know you're going to get your money's worth but, I always love to give new brands a try! If I like it then I like it....that's the type of person I am when it comes to fashion because to be honest the name of the brand rarely impresses me. Hell I've bought underwear from Wal-Mart and it is more comfortable/fashionable than the pair of Diesels that I have in my drawer.

Underwear review for Men and Underwear by Ethan Morale.
Today's review is for the Paris Trunk by Ken Wroy. You’ve may have read some of our posts in the past about this brand, where we highlighted their unique designs and prints, or a more recent post about Ken Wroy’s new collection, inspired by the fashion capitals of the world, which we loved! It was a pleasure to get our hands on a pair of trunks from this new collection. And what could be better than a Paris theme!

Starting with the print, for someone like me who has been living in France and enjoying the culture, the food and the heritage of this country, it was a nice surprise to see a brand from the other side of the Atlantic creating a print that is almost a tribute, in a pleasant and humorous way, to Paris. Anyone would recognise the references. There’s the Eiffel Tower and the pyramid of the Louvre Museum, and a cheeky ‘boulingerie’ … and a bottle of wine over the façade of Notre Dame! The print is really cool and, what’s better, its dyed! Underwear with rubber-stamped prints tend to brake or flake in the wash, but not so with Ken Wroy. Just two washes so far, but the print is staying exactly the same as are the vibrant colours. 

The fabric of these trunks is a microfiber, polyester - spandex blend. There is a very nice, soft feel to it, nice stretch and a sheen which I found matches perfectly the shiny silver waistband. The cut is quite straight forward. Nice fit and a very well designed contour pouch from top to bottom with some extra space for comfort at the front. The pouch is not huge but the fabric's stretch gives a nice support and very good definition. All the stitches seem sturdy, keeping everything in place and the panels are cut with precision. There is a label with washing instructions on the inside of the waistband which covers nicely the place where the waistband is put together to avoid any unpleasant friction to your skin.

Overall, the Paris Trunk by Ken Wroy stayed nice and comfortable all day long. If you are a fan of boxer-briefs / trunks this pair is great for everyday use. The microfiber fabric is soft and comfortable, a great alternative to cotton.

Tro is a model with incredibly sexy looks, gymnast, acrobat, fitness vlogger and very soon lifestyle blogger for gayety.co among many others! Tell us a little about yourself.

Well my name is Tro; I am father to a cat named Effy and enjoy drinking wine while avoiding adult responsibility. I was once a gymnast and had a passion for performing arts but decided first to go to university and study to become a paramedic which I now really enjoy. After completing studies I decided to get back into my passion for creating and circus arts now performing burlesque and aerial hoop/pole. I also write a blog about myself and growing up from country town boy into Melbourne gay culture and all the carious experiences and learning curves which came my way... It's really good and totally worth a read on my tumblr. I kinda like my mix of serious medical professional and creative nutcase - totally single and looking for an agency for anyone wanting to know (wink).

How did you start modelling?
I started modelling when someone stalked me on Facebook and messaged me with a promotional gig to advertise Manhunt at a summer carnival. I had not really considered becoming a model or even that I was ‘model material’ but after a few gigs and shoots my confidence began to grow and I really started to enjoy it. Now I see it was a great way to market and advance my performing life. I think the two go really well together and have led to some really interesting shoots and opportunities.

What was your best experience as a model?
My best experience was actually an unpaid shoot I did along with three other dancers. The shoot was all about showing the word the beauty of a dancer’s body no matter the size or shape. Everyone involved was super talented and we shot together basically naked for 8 hours straight. The three other dancers are still good friends and I have shot with the photographer many times after. Also we were painted head to toe in silver so I felt pretty awesome and sci-fi character worthy. 

Where do you see yourself in 5 years from today?
Oh god I hate this question… I am struggling with where I will be 5 minutes from now. Like a true Gypsy I always crave change and new experiences so I plan to be somewhere exciting and different from where I am today. Creatively I have the blog, modelling and performing I hope to advance further in, hopefully a trip over to New York and L.A. soon; both places I really want to explore.
Career-wise I am considering the trip back to university to complete my medical degree… Doctor by day, model and burlesque performer by night I recon would be pretty cool!

I would hopefully have a husband by that time... provided Australia finally legalises gay marriage by then! And maybe another cat or puppy!

Time to talk underwear! How often do you shop for underwear?
I do a fair amount of online shopping for undies and swimmers, a lot of the time there tends to be some really good sales and there are so many amazing designers who do not stock retail stores. I do like finding some unique styles and patterns which tend to be more available online.
In saying that I am one to drop into Kmart to buy a 5 pack of cheap undies to wear at the gym etc.

What is you favourite underwear style and colour?
I don’t really have a favourite so I guess all depends upon the situation!
Gym, tight boring briefs; going out, maybe a brief or small trunk with a cool pattern and bold waistband... just in case I need to show them off! In bed, boxers; performing, really tight briefs under my costume so I don't have any "accidental ball appearances"!
Colours vary with my mood, I do tend to go for bright colours and prints with my undies even if they are just for the gym. I kinda like being at work and knowing that under my boring and dull uniform I have something bright and colourful! 

Any favourite brands?
I am obsessed with Slickitup at the moment; they do not only underwear but a lot of undergarments, harnesses and swimmers - they currently have some amazing metallic prints that I am obsessed with... if anyone from slickitup.com reads this contact me!
Other brands currently in my collection include: Bonds, aussieBum, Andrew Christian, Charlie by Matthew Zink, Funky Trunks, CK, Nasty Pig, Speedo, Obviously… I think thats it... I have two drawers full of underwear haha!

Today we show you a collaboration between Russian fitness model Aleksander Komelin, also Russian, photographer Stanly in Moscow and the Irish men's underwear brand AMU! The outcome of this collaboration is an incredibly sexy set of photos, on the brink of being NSFW, with Komelin in some dramatic poses in the semi-transparent underwear and nylon shorts of AMU. Great photography by Stanly with a model we wish we see a lot more in the near future!
