Last month we visited for the second time the Salon International de la Lingerie in Paris. We had the chance to speak with quite a few, new and well established men's underwear brands, and we have scheduled a series of posts with what we have seen, which ones we liked the most and would recommend you to try.
We will start with a brand that was established in 1920 in Spain. A long history of male undergarments creation and one of the most well established Spanish underwear brands, ZD - Zero Defects. The brand prides itself for being 100% made in Spain by keeping all the stages from design to distribution in the country and despite the current, tough, financial climate to grow stronger every year. Their garments are characterised by their exceptional softness, custom fit and great comfort.
One of many things that created a fantastic impression to us when meeting with the brand in Paris was the outstanding materials of the underwear. In the collection of ZD you will find items made of Egyptian cotton, mercerised cotton and even fabrics with soya yarns. The fact that the brand is so careful on the material it uses for its garments is shown by the structure of their collection. For 2015, Zero Defects' collection comprises four distinctive ranges: Stretch Egyptian Cotton,  Soya Yarn, Mercerized Cotton and Giza Cotton. Expect a full range, from briefs to biker's long boxers and almost everything in between, some sporty, some classic and some modern, all in masculine colours with shades of dark blue, off whites, greys, classic white and black among others.
We went though literally every item of their new collection at the Salon and we must thank the representative of Zero Defects for sharing their passion and expertise with us.

One of the photographers we admire most is definitely Joan Crisol. You have seen his work in numerous publications and campaigns for brands such as ES Collection and very recently Modus Vivendi. Today we have the latest work of his to show you, an exclusive first release for Men and Underwear with stunning model and sportsman Guillermo Angulo. Mens underwear brand Bum-Chums is working hard on their new Spring Summer 2015 collection and they shared with us a "sneaky preview" of what the new designs will look like. The British designed and made brand will soon be launching an entirely new collection made with a mixture of fibers including a hi-tech fabric called Tactel®, originally developed by scientists to provide both aesthetic and performance oriented benefits.
Tactel® is a new but somewhat of a growing fabric within the underwear industry and offers a fitted and soft feel with the added benefits of advanced fiber technology. Similar to other moisture-wicking fabrics like Tencel and Coomax, it’s breathable, holds shape, dries faster than cotton and retains colour. Bum Chums is usually an early adopter of new fabrics and in the past was one of the first brands to start using Supplex®.
As well as the use of fabrics, Bum-Chums also announces improvements to their new regular fit garments, their brief and Hipster, using thicker leg binding and the new line sees the introduction of contrasting top-binding.
The sketches released (see below) show the detail and thought that goes into making every pair of bum-chums, from the attention to the fit and comfort as well as the choice of colours and defining lines, annotated with pointers they take into consideration at the design and development stage.

“The new collection keeps the lines simple but introduces striking colour accents” says Design & Development Director, Craig Hendry. “We decided to go for a bold design with chunky waist elastic and leg binding. We wanted to give the world something bold and comfortable but also something to represent good value when you put them on.”

In addition to their improved Hipster, Brief and Jock, bum-chums show in one of the sketches a new design, which is an amalgamation of a brief and jock. We can't wait to see what the final products will look like!
Bum-Chums launch the new ranges in March 2015 in what could only be described as their usual quirky style… Stay tuned!

Canadian mens underwear retailer Jockstrap Central has just added two more styles to their Male Power underwear collection. The two best selling designs at their store from this brand are the Moonshine Jockstrap and the Zipper Short, both undeniably sexy. Male Power is back with the Radical Sport Moonshine and the Radical Sport Zipper Short adding a front zipper to the Moonshine and making them both in a soft, slinky and stunning striped fabric in either slate-blue and black or wine and black.

The Male Power Radical Sport Moonshine Jockstrap has a low-rise brief front but gets it's "moonshine" name from the back - the best way to describe it is a brief back with a big hole cut out for your "moon" to shine. As mentioned, the fabric is striped and the stripes help to accentuate the contours of your package and because it's nylon and spandex, it's super soft feeling almost like silk against your boys (they'll love you for it!). And new to the Moonshine design is the zipper in the front pouch so now your front can be as exposed as your rear.

The Male Power Radical Sport Zipper Short, just like the original, has a low rise trunk cut and a very noticeable front zipper pouch for easy access. The spandex nylon combo not only feels great against your boys but it stretches in all the right places making this one hot go go short that's sure to draw attention. And speaking of drawing attention, like the jock, the striped fabric although subtle does it's job of highlighting every contour of your package.

Both designs includes a welcome extra fabric backing behind the zipper to help prevent things getting caught, but please still be careful.

From the series of posts about our recent visit to the Salon International de la Lingerie in Paris we couldn't miss Rochas. We have featured this brand a couple of times in the past and it was a real pleasure to see and speak again to their representatives last month. The French brand presented their new male underwear collection in this exhibition and we were delighted to be among the first to see it.
The new collection features classic as well as more modern designs. You will find briefs, tight and loose boxers as well as t-shirts and sleepwear. As for colours, the brand proposes: blue, grey, black and green tones along with geometric or ethnic inspired patterns, stripes and checks.

One more brand we had the chance to see, for the first time, in the Salon International de la Lingerie in Paris last month was Ludgy Underwear. The brand belongs to Dilaila – Confecções de Roupa, Lda, is based and manufactured in Portugal and was established in 2005. Almost 10 years now in the market, the label is considered a premium brand filled with glamour and able to meet the needs of the most demanding market. We know that the word "premium" sounds like "expensive" to your ears but if you visit Ludgy's official underwear store you will see that the prices are on the low end. The briefs of their latest collection range between 6.25 and 6.50 euros, the boxers around 9 euros, tangas around 5.70 and t-shirts and thermal underwear a bit more than 10 euros.
During the fair in Paris we were able to speak to the brand's sales manager, Mr. Stewart Walton, who we thank a lot for all the information he gave us about Ludgy Underwear. We were able to see and touch the products and we must say they look and feel really nice. This is a brand you definitely need to keep an eye on. Ludgy underwear seems to "listen" to their customers, following at the same time the global trends on what men like to wear. The brand offers a large collection of items from sexy to conservative and from trendy to classic.
We will show you a small selection of the items we like most from their new collection below but there is a lot more on their website. While you are there, check out their previous collection as well (basic, private and casual lines) which include some more fantastic underwear.

Greek mens underwear brand Modus Vivendi has just released their new Leather Line. The name refers to the Leather Flag the colours of which sparked the inspiration to Christos Bibitsos to create this line. The line comprises underwear (briefs, boxers and jocks in two colour combinations) and athletic wear (sweat shorts, tank top and henley shirt). The colours of this line in accordance to the Leather Flag are blue and black with small red details.

The underwear of this line is a natural continuation of their Bear line with the Boost briefs, Boost boxers and Boost jocks in new colours. The athletic wear of this line matches the underwear in terms of colours and fabrics. We love them all!

Great news for all jockstraps fans out there! Bike No.10 Vintage Throwback Edition jockstraps are back at Jockstrap Central and until Sunday, March 8th, they are offering them at 10% off.
